Aurora LNG will directly and indirectly create 670,000 person-years of employment throughout the project life-cycle.
Aurora LNG can play a role in helping British Columbia and Canada realize their goal of a competitive LNG industry that creates jobs and strengthens Asia-Pacific trade relationships. Our project will benefit both BC and Canada through economic development and diversification, job creation, and increased government revenue.
We estimate spending approximately C$28 billion on construction and C$4.5 billion per year during 25 years of operations (inclusive of LNG facility operation and gas costs). Decommissioning is expected to cost approximately C$1.4 billion (all figures in nominal dollars).
Aurora LNG will directly and indirectly create approximately 670,000 person-years of employment in Canada during construction, 25 years of operation and decommissioning.
Aurora LNG has the potential to deliver lasting benefits to Aboriginal and local communities through:
- Employment (300 to 600 positions through the operational life of the project) and business opportunities, as well as through contributions to government revenue
- Community investment and improvements to transportation/other infrastructure
- Indirect employment opportunities through suppliers of goods and services
